This weekend, I was enjoying watching as my toddler cruise along a little unsteadily around the living room. Within hours, her speed of walking (with the help of a hand on the sofa) increased at an amazing rate. There was nothing that was going to slow her down. Then, before anyone could react, she reached for the coffee table, but it was just out of her reach. She lost her balance and went down. Normally this would have not been a big deal at all, but she hit her mouth on the corner of the coffee table as she went down. There was immediately blood flowing everywhere. I will admit I panicked a bit. What mother wouldn’t? I was frantically searching for the source of the blood. Then I saw the culprit, it was coming from her baby teeth and gums. The teeth were a mess, and seemed to be barely hanging on.
We scooped her up into our arms and headed to the emergency room. After a brief consultation with a nurse and doctor, they had the bleeding stopped and had calmed my nerves a bit. At the recommendation of the doctor, we immediately sought out the help of an emergency dentist (Perth, but they also have an emergency dentist in Sydney as well). We went straight from the emergency room to the emergency dentist’s office. The dentist was great. She explained that one tooth would be fine, but the other tooth was not viable and needed removed. She told us not to be concerned. She explained how we had options to fill the gap to keep there from being orthodontic problems in the future. When she finished, she referred us to a pediatric dentist who would be able to take over the long term care of our daughter’s teeth. What a weekend!!!
I wanted to surprise my husband with some boudoir photos for his thirty-fifth birthday. I had been working hard to get in extra good shape and drop those last ten pounds. I was also worried about a couple of small stretch marks on my belly. I have been working hard at getting rid of those too. I have been using stretch mark removal cream.
The day of the big photo shoot rolled around and I was about ninety-five percent happy with the appearance of my body. The photographer provides a person to do your hair and makeup as part of the boudoir photo shoot package. The makeup artist offered to use a little makeup to cover up the minor stretch marks. She told me that I have another option; I could have the photographer edit the stretch marks out. But she said the best bet would probably to use makeup to cover them up, and then if I wasn’t happy with the results, I could take the makeup off or have the photographer edit my remaining marks to have a flawless finish. I decided to go with the makeup. I told the photographer if it wasn’t photographing well to let me know if I should remove the makeup or let her edit it out.
I received the photograph proofs about three weeks before my husband’s birthday. I had a hard time deciding which photographs to order. I wanted them all. I order a few carefully selected ones, and presented them to my husband on his birthday. He was beyond thrilled.
Some birth flowers are available in different colors and each color has a unique meaning. This might change your idea of the perfect birthday gift in terms of the color you select for birth flowers for a gift. For instance, January’s birth flower is the carnation. The carnation can be many different colors, but each signifies something different. For carnations, red means admiration, white means friendship, pink means romance, striped means a refusal and yellow means rejection.
February’s birth flower is violet and it has different shades ranging from dark blue to purple. All shades mean royalty. March, April and May’s birth flowers do not have different meanings for different colors, but June’s does. June’s birth flower is the rose. Each color of rose is supposed to stand for something important. A red rose is love, pink is belief, pale pink is sympathy, white is innocence, orange is secret love, yellow is jealousy, burgundy is beauty, blue is mystery, green is calm, and purple is protection.
July’s birth flower, larkspur, also has different colors. Pink signifies fickle, white is lucky and purple is sweet. The birth flower for August is gladiolus which usually comes in white, yellow, orange, pink and red. But there is no special meaning behind the different colors for August. September’s flower is the aster, which comes in white, lilac, pink, mauve and red, but again has no special meaning for the different colors. October’s flower is the marigold. November and December both have flowers that come in a variety of colors, but none have a special meaning behind the colors. November’s chrysanthemum is available in white, pink, yellow, orange, red, and mauve. December’s narcissus is available in white, yellow and orange.
My hair was dry and damaged from various forms of abuse but mostly due to the fact I dyed it frequently and always used a blow dryer. The combination of the harsh chemicals and dryness left my hair a mess.
I had everything from split ends to dry, flat looking hair. I had developed dandruff from the dry scalp conditions I had created and also started losing hair.
That was when I heard about using coconut oil.
I wasn’t sure what to think about covering my head in coconut oil, but once I tried it I was hooked.
The difference is amazing because I now have strong, shiny hair that’s full of body and no more split ends. Oh, and no more dandruff.
It’s all because coconut oil acts as a moisturizer when I give myself a hair mask treatment. The oil soaks into my scalp as I massage it, which makes it work on my hair from the roots out.
The oil actually repairs damaged hair and strengthens it, which protects it from further abuse. What I like the most is that with a beautiful head of hair it has boosted my self-confidence and I have a much better image of myself.
I’ve also quit dying my hair as the harsh chemicals were creating part of the problem. I’ve also quit using a blow dryer, as I don’t want to lose the benefits of the natural coconut oil hair mask.
My mom has been struggling with arthritis in her hands for several years. At times, the pain can be quite severe. She has tried over the counter medications, but she found that they upset her stomach. Sometimes her hands ached so much that they kept her from doing the kind of activities she loved, for instance her weekly euchre game with the ladies from her retirement community.
When her friends noticed how many problems my mom was having with the arthritis in her hands and how it affected her playing, one of them suggested that my mom try drinking ginger tea. Her friend said that ginger tea reduces the swelling in your joints. This makes the arthritis less painful and it makes movement much more easy. At first my mom was skeptical, but she called me and asked my opinion. I told her as long as her doctor didn’t see any harm in it; I thought she should go for it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
So after asking her doctor, my mom was given the go ahead to explore the benefits of ginger tea. It took a couple of days, but my mom began to notice a significant difference in the amount of discomfort she had in her hands. Now she has a cup of ginger tea every morning and every evening. She said another added benefit she has noticed is that she has fewer upset stomachs. She asked her friend and found out that ginger tea is also used for upset stomachs.
I know I have seen many celebrities flaunt their goods in bikinis while they were sporting rather large baby bellies. I have been thinking about doing it to. It isn’t something that you see where I live. I don’t know if it is a trend that hasn’t caught on, if women are too shy to show off their pregnancy bodies, or if it is just because there are no local stores that carry maternity bikinis. Like I said, I haven’t decided for sure to do it, but I haven’t even been about to find a bikini maternity swimsuit in any local stores.
I tried on a bikini that was just in a larger size to see how it would look with my pregnant tummy, and it was okay looking, but the real issue was that the bottoms just didn’t fit well across my lower stomach. I looked up maternity bikinis online and found there are ones specifically made for a woman’s expanding belly, but like I said before, no local stores have them in stock.
I guess the only thing I can do it to order one online and see how I feel in it when it arrives. I do know that this trend seems to be more accepted by younger people more than older. My mom isn’t thrilled with the idea of a pregnant lady in a bikini, but my husband and several of my friends think it is perfectly fine. I hope I am one of those ladies that can pull off the look.
There’s been a lot of discussion regarding SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) and baby sleeping bags and all of it has been positive.
That was what I needed to hear when it was time to start furnishing and decorating our nursery for the big arrival.
From what I can tell the baby bean bags prevent overheating.
Since babies are so susceptible to changing temperatures we’ve been advised to keep an eye on the nursery with a thermometer. Overheating can cause a few problems with our baby and that includes disturbing its sleep.
I’m pretty sure after I’ve spent a considerable amount of time putting ours to sleep that I don’t want to have a crying baby wake me up simply because I let the room get too warm. I expect to be woken up for feeding time and for a diaper change but not for something I can prevent by simply controlling the temperature.
My biggest concern when I starting looking at baby sleeping bags was whether or not I’d get the right size and it turns out I was worrying about a small detail as proper sizing is simple and also ensures a good night’s sleep for both our baby and for us.
One tip one mother shared with me recently was to buy more than one baby sleeping bag so we would always have a clean one handy.
I thought that was a pretty good idea and we have a few of them stored and ready in the nursery.
Debbie had been my best friend since we were in first grade. We did everything together. Debbie and I got matching tattoos when we were on vacation together. Her tattoo was of a slice of bread with peanut butter on it. My tattoo was of a slice of bread with jelly on it. They were cartoonish and very cute. We had been best friends for over twenty years at this point in our lives and neither one of us imagined that changing in any time soon.
About three years after we got our tattoos, I came home from work early one day. I discovered Debbie and my husband had been having an affair. It was an ugly day, followed by many more ugly ones. But I managed to get through the hardest time of my life without either of them, and I believe I ended up stronger and happier for it. Debbie and my ex-husband ended up together- but left two broken homes to make their new one together.
After things had cooled off and my divorce had been settled, I took part of my divorce settlement money to do something just for myself, a little selfish reward for the struggles I had recently endured. I had laser tattoo removal treatments to remove that adorable little slice of bread from my wrist. A mutual friend told me that Debbie told people it was childish of me to have it removed, but I believe it was a way of letting go of the past. The tattoo removal (at tattoo removal nyc) was my way to finally move on from a very painful chapter and start fresh again.
